Domingo Named Chairman of Outsource2Philippines

By: Michael Alan Hamlin
The former Philippine undersecretary for Trade & Development responsible for raising the profile of the Philippines as an ITES hub has been appointed chairman of Outsource2Philippines (O2P). O2P provides consulting services to the ITES sector, including project management, quality and process efficiency training services, and strategic marketing communications services. Manila, Phililppines (PRWEB) April 21, 2005 -- Outsource2Philippines (O2P) announced today that Gregory L. Domingo has been elected chairman of the consulting firm. Domingo was formerly an undersecretary of the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) and was responsible for raising the profile of the Philippines as a center for IT-Enabled Services (ITES), one of the Philippines fastest-growing sectors. In a little over four years, the ITES sector employment grew from less than 5,000 to greater than 100,000 with revenues conservatively estimated at approximately P1 billion. As DTI undersecretary, Domingo also headed the Board of Investment, and was responsible for revamping the Motor Vehicle Development Program. At O2P, Domingo will be responsible for helping set the strategic directions of the firm, and will act as a principal partner, according to O2P CEO Frank Holz. “Greg has a very intimate understanding of the dynamics of the ITES industry — which in many ways he helped create in the Philippines,” said Holz. “This obviously gives him great credibility when it comes to advising clients in this space, whether they are ITES providers, contractors, or providers of support services.” For Domingo, the opportunity to extend his participation in the ITES industry is a natural progression. “I obviously have a great deal of interest in the industry, and I’m delighted to have an opportunity to continue to support its development. I’m also looking forward to working with Frank, who is one of the early ITES pioneers, having led the development of Accenture’s Global Resource Center in Manila.” O2P was founded late last year to provide consulting services to the ITES sector, including project management, quality and process efficiency training services, and strategic marketing communications services. The firm has been engaged by a number of multinational and local firms to provide a variety of services, according to Holz. “We’re currently involved in a number of exciting projects, including a strategic analysis of the Philippine software industry, development of quality and process efficiency training opportunities, and mergers and acquisitions,” he said. Before joining government, Domingo was president of Carmelray-JTCI Corp. (CJC), a joint venture with Singapore’s Jurong Town Corp (JTC), to develop one of the Philippines’ premier industrial parks. Previously he was an investment banker, primarily in the United States, including stints with Chemical Bank, First Boston, Drexel Burnham Lambert, and Mellon Bank. In the Philippines, he was Managing Director/Treasurer of Chase Manhattan Bank Manila. At Chemical Bank, Domingo was a managing director in New York as head portfolio manager for the Bank’s $14 Billion proprietary investment portfolio of fixed income securities and derivatives. Domingo holds a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, a Masters in Business Management (with Distinction) from the Asian Institute of Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering from Ateneo de Manila University.
